Looking for your next home, or just curious about your neighborhood? Zillow, one of the premier online destinations for real estate information, is now on your Android mobile device. Zillow Real Estate Search lets you see the estimated price (the “Zestimate”) of any U.S. home; useful for figuring out which homes and neighborhoods offer a good value for you.

Zestimates are the estimated market values Zillow calculates for more than 70 million homes. They aren’t official appraisals, but Zestimates are based on public data that can be supplemented by real estate agents, appraisers, and homeowners. Related to the Zestimate, you’ll also see a range of the low and high values of a home. Used together, the Zestimate and value range can be a good place to start determining what a home or neighborhood will really cost.

Type in searches by city, neighborhood, or street address. Integration with Google Maps gives you access to GPS location searching and driving directions. The Zillow app also supports Android’s voice search, so you can just speak your search into your mobile device’s microphone. If you haven’t completely made up your mind, you can save favorite listings and searches you’d like to revisit.

Once you’ve found the area you want to search, you’ll likely want to filter the listings. In addition to the types of filters you might expect (price, number of beds and baths), you can also filter by property type. Three of those options are self-explanatory: for sale, for rent, and recently sold. The fourth option, Make Me Move, shows you homes that aren’t officially on the market. Many of those homeowners are testing the waters, and they’ve set their own “dream price.” If you like a home with a Make Me Move price, you’ll have an option to e-mail the homeowner for information.

See homes in list or map view. The list view shows homes for sale first, followed by homes with Zestimate information. The map view shows all the homes in the neighborhood that match your search. When available, the Zillow app supports Google Maps’ high-resolution satellite images and Google Street View. Some homes even have photos or floor plans, which you can view full-screen in either portrait or landscape mode.

Once you’ve found something you like, it’s easy to get the ball rolling. Share a listing with a friend or colleague via email. Additionally, for most homes on the market Zillow provides contact information for the agent or property manager-call or email them directly without leaving the app.
