If you travel or do business internationally, you know how important it is to have the most up-to-date currency rates at hand. Currency Converter, a simple and convenient app for your Android device, makes it easy to see and compare current exchange rates for every world currency whenever you wish.
Conversions Made Easy
Whether you’re looking to convert Rubles to Lira, Dinars to Pesos, or Rupees to Francs, this app will have you covered. It opens to a screen showing two dropdown menus–one for each currency that you’d like to compare. The menus default to Euros and U.S. Dollars but can be changed easily to any other currency you wish.
Just touch the dropdown menu you’d like to adjust, and a complete list of world currencies will appear. When you’ve chosen the currencies you’d like to compare, you’ll see clear numerical results–these will show their comparitive values based on current exchange rates (which are updated every few minutes via Yahoo! Finances).
Also on this screen is a graph that shows fluctuations in the exchange rate for two currencies over a period of time. You can change the time period easily–it’s possible to create a graph showing any time period from one day to five years, offering many different views of how a particular exchange rate has changed.
Useful Features
Another feature of this app is a News tab, which features current headlines and links to news stories regarding world currency issues. Selecting any headline takes you away from the Currency Converter app and to the mobile Web site of whichever media outlet the story comes from.
Selecting the Currencies tab reveals a quick list that shows how several major world currencies currently compare to one of your choosing. If, for example, you want to quickly see the value of one U.S. Dollar internationally, the list will show its equivalent in Euros, Pounds, Yen, and whatever else you choose. Although this mode doesn’t provide the level of detail that the initial conversion screen offers, it’s a quick and easy way to see the state of various world currencies at one glance.
